End of Delhi Curfew for the weekend

To combat the COVID-19 rise, the DDMA decided to implement a curfew in Delhi on Saturdays and Sundays earlier this month.

After the apex COVID-19 management authority, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), met on Thursday to review the pandemic situation in the city, the weekend curfew was lifted in Delhi.

The night curfew would remain in effect until new orders are issued. The school opening agenda will be discussed at the next DDMA meeting.

The bars and restaurants have been instructed to operate with a 50% capacity. The DDMA has also decided to increase the number of persons allowed to attend wedding festivals in the national capital from 200 to 300.

The DDMA meeting was co-chaired by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Last Monday, the Delhi government announced that outside the Containment Zones, all private offices in the National Capital Territory of Delhi might operate with up to 50% attendance.

The DDMA, on the other hand, had encouraged private offices to stagger office hours, presence, and staffing levels.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government reported 7,498 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the state government.

According to the Health Department’s report, the day’s positive rate is now at 10.59 percent. In the last 24 hours, a total of 70,804 samples were tested.

11,164 individuals have recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, bringing the overall number of recoveries in the national capital to 17,46,972.

During the last 24 hours, 29 people have died as a result of the deadly illness. The disease has claimed the lives of 25,710 people in Delhi. The death rate among covids is 1.42 percent. In Delhi, there are now 38,315 ongoing COVID-19 cases.

Experts proposed reopening the schools in three phases: courses 9-12 in the first, classes 5-8 in the second, and classes 3 and 4 in the third. The reopening of schools, however, will be discussed at the next meeting.

As the number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases has been slowly declining in recent weeks, there has been an increasing demand from traders, schools, and other elements of society to lessen the curbs in Delhi to allow activities.

The AAP-led government had been pressing for reducing the restrictions, such as the odd-even rule for markets, and had even given Baijal a proposal in this regard earlier this month. However, in the wake of the Covid-19 outbreak, the Lieutenant Governor rejected it and recommended private offices to stagger office hours.

The Kejriwal government claims that the positive rate in the national capital is declining and that the number of hospitalizations is decreasing, claiming that these two factors are sufficient to lift the restrictions in the national capital.

According to the Delhi health department’s bulletin, the positive rate is 10.5 percent.
